| Lutheran Staff Association of the Northwest |
What is L.S.A.? Lutheran Staff Associate is a pan-Lutheran group of non-clergy employees serving Lutheran congregations, agencies and in specialized settings.
Our Associate was formed in 1960 under the name of Church Staff Worker's Associate of the Northwest. We became Association of Professional Lutheran Lay Ministers (APLLM) in 1988 to conform to the national organization's name. In 1998, we began the process to change our name to the Lutheran Staff Association to have a less cumbersome title. At the 2000 conference the official name change took place.
Our membership is drawn from Lutheran congregations and agencies in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington. We are funded by membership dues, judicatory support, and donations.
What does L.S.A. do? Lutheran Staff Association promotes individual development for non-clergy staff. We provide opportunities for education, inspiration, training, and networking for mutual support to our members.
In the early part of each year we hold a 4-day conference to provide you with opportunities to learn and laugh, sing and pray, grow in faith and connect with others working in similar ministries.
Many congregations provide continuing education funds for their non-clergy staff so they can attend the L.S.A. conference annually. Your own spiritual growth as well as the ministry of your church or agency will be enhanced by your participation in this event. |
2008 Lutheran Staff Association Conference "Surrounded by God: Empowered to Serve"
May 12-15 (Monday - Thursday) Holden Village
Holden Village in the North Cascades will be the site for the annual Lutheran Staff Association Conference. This May 12-15. We are privileged to welcome Pastor Dave Brauer-Rieke, Bishop of the Oregon Synod, as our conference speaker. We will also have the privilege of having Pastor Shelley Wickstrom, the ELCA Region 1 Coordinator for Ministry Leadership, provide learning opportunities as well.
Our theme this year is: Surrounded by God, Empowered to Serve. This conference is an opportunity for lay staff serving in a variety of ministry settings to come together for education, worship and Bible study. All those who serve as lay staff (rostered or not) and volunteers in Alaska, Washington, Idaho, Oregon and Montana are welcome. Whether you're looking for educational opportunities, fun with friends -- old and new, or simply a chance to relax and disconnect (literally) you'll find it at the 2008 LSA Conference. Please join us as we explore our theme, in one of the most breathtaking settings in the Northwest.
